It all started Tuesday bright and early around 7 AM with Allyson greeting the morning early with puking out her room and heading down the hall. It continued all day, though it was weird. She originally went a few hours between puking, but as the day progressed it got worse. It was odd. She fell asleep around 7 and so we put her to bed.
Then more excitement happened. Carys had started complaining about her tummy, and she wasn't eating well. She perked up so we thought maybe she was just copying Ally. Carys is only 2 and doesn't really have the ability to really explain what she is feeling. We got her into bed and no longer than 10 minutes later I heard her cry, so I went to see what was wrong. OH MY GOSH! I didn't even have to look or turn a light on to know what happened. THE SMELL, OH THAT NASTY HORRIBLE, DISTINCT SMELL! She had puked and puked BIG TIME! And just because I know you want to know, it was EVERYWHERE! It was all over her, her bed, the wall, it was all over her head, and the back of her too. Aaron grabbed her and hosed her down and I declared war on everything else. I give him props for not joining in. He has been known to join in before but he kept his cool and dinner and managed alright.
During the clean up time Ally continued to sleep but Jared was awake and his nose decided it was a excellent time to gush! Seriously a big ol' nose bleed NOW!?
We got Carys settled in clean clothes, and settled in a make shift bed in the living room. She fell asleep pretty fast afterwards and was out! Aaron and I on the other hand could not sleep. I think it was our bodies saying, don't get too comfy you aren't done yet! Carys woke up around midnight and was wide awake. She felt okay, just wide awake.
Around 2 Ally started up again, and this time it was non-stop. After puking for pretty much an hour with very little rest between Aaron took her to the ER. While there I did what I could to settle Carys down in her bed and finally got her back asleep in her bed around 4 AM. I was keeping in contact with Aaron during all this time. They tested Ally for an UTI, and they also took blood. The blood and UTI came back okay, so nasty stomach flu it is. Her issue though is she had gotten severely dehydrated. They got her turned around a bit, and gave her some Zofran and once she had kept the meds down for a bit they were able to get her to try a Popsicle.
Aaron and Ally were released and home a little after 5 AM. Carys was asleep, Jared was sleeping away, with no idea that anything different was going on. We got Ally into bed and Aaron and I followed, hoping for a few hours of sleep.
Around 6:30 Jared walked into room announcing that he had just thrown up! He had gotten up and went into the living room. Luckily enough I had left the bowl in there that was initially for Carys (though she never used it.) I felt bad for him, but I was happy that he used a bowl. Okay for those that didn't do the math, we hadn't gone 24 hours since the beginning of this crap yet. As soon as the pharmacy was open Aaron filled the Zofran prescription and we dispersed pills to those in need. Yes we got a family order. Jared turned around pretty fast once the meds kicked in. Carys only ever puked that one time in her bed.
The rest of Wednesday was spent trying to keep everyone comfy and calm.
Thursday was pretty good. The kids all seemed to perk up and were heading back to their normal selves. Jared was really tired, and went back to bed after a while, but on a whole they were pretty good, though none of them had appetites.
Friday Ally greeted the day with puke again. I didn't believe her at first. She has the tenancy to cry puke a lot and not puke, but since the history of the last 3 days were what they were I gave her a puke catcher and told her to go back to sleep. I am glad I gave her something before I left again, because she erupted! HOLY CRAP NOT AGAIN! Since it had been days since this started we were told to take her into the Doc. We had gotten a check up call from the Doc just the day before since they got the ER notes. She was doing good the day before though, so In the meantime I gave her yet another Zofran and it worked wonders! I LOVE ZOFRAN!
She was sent home with more Zofran and more for the family, just in case. The rest of Friday was pretty smooth. Ally took a nap that lasted just about 4 hours! I spent the rest of the day just trying to keep everyone comfy and calm. Wow that sounds familiar, like um Wednesday.
Cell phone shots
Friday evening.
So besides what she was holding I found more in the bathroom garbage.
It isn't horrible, but it makes me mad.
The hair that is sticking out on her cheek shouldn't be.
Then there is this side.
Then this part.
Seriously though, this face makes me chuckle now. You can see that she knew she was in BIG TROUBLE! ha ha girl!
Then that afternoon I found her like this! Seriously girl! I think she was making up for 5 days of being sick.
I mean, REALLY!?
After that was cleaned up too, we went outside and played a little in the front yard, and breathed some fresh air. This morning she woke up complaining about her stomach again, and cuddling her puke bowl, but there has been no puke and she has eaten a little bit. I think she may have just been hungry and is confusing the hungry feeling with sick feeling. So as of right now we are going on 2 days without vomit! YAY!!!!!!!!!! I am hoping to be done with puke and tummy issues for a while. PLEASE!
