The kids have been sharing a "cold" type illness for about 6 weeks. It always goes straight to my kids' chests. It started with Jared, went to Carys and then Ally got it. It kind of subsided, but then about 4 weeks ago, Ally got sick again, this time starting with puke, most likely due to the fever and junk in her throat. The thing is, she still isn't better and the other 2 have gotten their share again. After appointments and appointments and nebulizing and more, we had to go back yet again yesterday. I don't think it is right that Ally is needing treatments at 3:00AM every night (morning) still.
Diagnosis for Jared and Ally now is bronciolitis, asthma and allergies. We have new meds, more neb meds too, and thoughts to try. I hate allergies, and that is one thing that I had really hoped to not pass down. Sorry guys.
We were hoping that the new meds last night meant no nebbing at 3:00 AM (she just wakes up coughing and coughing and coughing, trying to catch her breath and not throw up.) No such luck last night. We will see what more time brings. If they are no better within the week, back we go again.
Yesterday after Ally crashed for a while in bed she was feeling a bit better and we stopped by Valley Vision and picked up her new glasses. I don't think I ever mentioned what was going on with her. I meant to do a post, but I never did.
One of the things that Children's wanted us to try with her (for her headaches) was getting her eyes tested. We took her to Dr. Davis here at Valley Vision. He is LDS and is or was a Bishop in one of the other wards. Aaron sees him and he has a specialty with kids as well.
The first appointment it was very clear that she had a vision issue and has been compensating, but we didn't know exactly how much, and he wanted to be sure before anything was decided on or set. I took her back a week later for a cycloplegic refraction, which is fancy words for a more thorough eye exam using several drops to completely numb the eyes. It was determined that she was compensating more than we originally thought. Glasses were ordered and she got them yesterday.
I think she looks adorable, and more importantly she likes them and she loves that she can see! I didn't realize and I don't think she did either how much she wasn't seeing and how much she was missing, and compensating. All the way home yesterday she was talking like she had never seen things before. I was/am so happy for her. A little sad that I didn't realize this before, but at least we got this figured out now at the young age of only 4.
So here we are. Some pictures of playing in the yard last weekend, a random shot, a few shots of the kids sitting in a fast fighter jet at the Museum of Flight and a shot of our cute little bespectacled girly.
Last weekend the weather suddenly turned warm I mean really warm.
Yesterday was in the 90's. Holy cow, where did spring go?
These guys could pick "blow flowers" as they call them all day.
Deep in thought
Our tall lanky girl who everyone thinks is almost 6 not 4.
Our stud
Our cutey
(not saying the others aren't, but look at that smile!)
Last Saturday we needed a get away day.
We went to the temple and walked around, ate lunch and then went to the Museum of Flight.
Here they are all sitting in the SR-71 (I had to ask Aaron again.)
I love his eyes in this shot. Click to make it bigger to see what I mean.
Sunday I wanted to see if our 2 year old had enough hair for 2 braids, she does.
She has a massive amount of hair for someone her age.
And here she is. Allyson with her new specs. I love them, so does everyone else in our house. I was kinda worried what Jared would say, and what she would think, or if she would feel embarrassed, but he has been GREAT and she likes them.
There you are all caught up.
