Allyson
So yesterday I took Allyson to the Doctor and he agreed totally with the ER physician. We were sent home with medicine for our nebulizer to use on her if we need too. This should keep us out of the ER again.
For those wondering yes we tried the Hot Steam and the Cold Air the other night and since then, and it just wasn't working. For one it is really hard to sit outside right now, seeing that is only single digits outside. Right now as I type this, it is 1 degree. BRRR! We did try it and will of course try it again if we need too.
I also brought up her other issue. Ever since trying to switch her from formula to milk she has had major constipation issues. We eased into the milk just like we did with Jared, but even doing that, or doing half milk with half formula she is miserable. Her Dr said that she could be starting to show signs of Lactose intolerance, but before we go down that road we are trying a few other things first like lactose free milk and no dairy. Hopefully we can get her figured out.
Jared
It is fun how excited he is for Christmas this year. He loves seeing anything that has Santa in it. He loves driving around and seeing all the Christmas lights. I think ZooLights is a must this year. He loves telling ANYONE that Santa is going to bring him cars this year. This weekend there is a Christmas Party that we might be going to, and I hope that Jared will still be excited to see Santa at that point.
Aaron
I don't think I've mentioned anything about Aaron in a while.
First of all, Aaron is no longer in school. He wasn't happy, and had decided that Geography, though he really enjoyed it, wasn't his thing. He has always wanted to fly and so that is the goal. We are still trying to decide where we will go for schooling, but we have a few ideas in mind. In the meantime, he is working 2 jobs, 1 in which he is enjoying and has opportunities of moving up. He just recently (2 weeks ago) got this SECOND job, so balancing the 2 is still new. Whenever he isn't at Safeway he is at Composites. He makes his own hours, so it's nice. It means that we hardly ever see him anymore, but we also know this is what we need to do for awhile, until we are sure of the next step.
He also went back to Seattle last week and saw Dr. McInnes. Dr. M was happy to see that Aaron's ankle is the least swollen it has been in the last 3+ years. Dr. M also said that his stance is a bit better. Aaron has always walked/stood on the outside of his feet, and this brace is suppose to be helping with that and stopping him for rolling it again, and so looks like it might be working. Dr. M is looking at getting him another brace, so he doesn't have to keep switching it back and forth between shoes. Dr. M also cleared Aaron to fly. His ankle shouldn't be a problem at all when it comes to flying. He was happy to hear that.
So I think that brings you up to date. I'm still here, just trying to keep us all going, trying to keep everyone happy and getting everyone healthier. That is a task in and of itself.

Little ones are puzzles sometimes. Too bad Ally can't tell you how she feels and what exactly is wrong. lol Leighton too is so excited about Christmas. He loves the decorations. Please BUNDLE up if you make it to Zoolights. It was neat thought, I think I am going again with the fam without Audrey though. Anyway I might see you at the Christmas party this weekend. Just Leighton and I though.
Glad to hear Aaron's ankle is improving...hopefully it continues to get better.
Lucy had some constipation problems when we switched her to whole milk from formula. Any change in diet could cause that. There are several things you could try:
Craisins seem to work well for my kiddos.
Baby food prunes are a quick fix, and they really don't taste too bad.
You can try putting dark Karo syrup in her milk bottles and shaking it until the syrup has mixed completely with the milk.
I've heard of people using mineral oil as well, but that's one thing I've never tried, and not sure I would.
Also, Miralax is a great thing. It isn't habit-forming like Exlax or some other laxatives, and it just dissolves in whatever liquid you put it in (even milk). Lucy has used it off and on since she was about 2, and it works very well.
As far as lactose intolerance, try Ally on lactose-free milk to see if that makes a difference. I will tell you, though, that my experience with lactose intolerance is the opposite of constipation. Amy had such bad diarrhea within an hour of drinking or eating anything containing milk (sorry, TMI) that she was actually losing weight.
Anyway, I hope you're able to figure out what's going on with Ally. It's frustrating, I know!
Glad to hear that other things are going well though. And I'm sorry for leaving such a long comment.
