Well the last 2 weeks have been hard on Jared. He likes Allyson alright, and is good with her, but her sudden appearance in our home has thrown him for a loop I think.
Before Ally was with us Jared's schedule was pretty predictable. Awake around 8 AM, takes his nap around 10:30 - 1:00. Then good to go the rest of the day and then bed at 9:30. Slept all night without a problem.
Now, he wakes up numerous times during the night, and won't go back to sleep for at least an hour each time. He has an absolute melt down when it's bed or nap time that has been known to last an hour as well. WHAT THE CRAP!
I've heard from others that this or similar things happened when they brought their new baby home, and some people said it took 3 months for this to stop. I can't go on like this for 3 months.
Holy Cow! Any suggestions?

What if you try reading him an extra story, or having some one on one play time with him before he goes down. It could be jealousy or his way of trying to get more attention (since he is no longer the only sparkle in your eye). Let me know how things go! That will be me the end of May next year! Yikes!
Some people might think this is mean, but after checking to make sure he's OK (doesn't need a diaper change, didn't have a night terror/nightmare, isn't hurting or sick, etc...) we would probably just find him a book to look at in his crib and leave him alone. It's so hard when they cry and cry, but you seriously have enough on your hands during the night.
During each day, try to spend a little extra time with him. Take him out for a one on one date every month on the 8th 'cause that's his special day. Our kids LOVE their special day! (We rotate which parent goes with which kid.)
Hope you find something that works!
Carolyn, just smack up-side the head like we did with you
